Complex Electronic Systems-- Unsafe at Any Speed?

I wrote an article over the weekend for my column at Electronics Weekly regarding the exploding verification problems as electronic systems get more and more complex.  I resurrected Ralph Nader's premise about the automotive industry designing cars to be unsafe as a historical analogy to the dangers that exist in complex electronically managed systems today-- i.e.  automobiles.
